Incubus Biography

Incubus has remained an ever-changing and developing band throughout their history, evolving their sound and lyrical content through each of their four full-length albums, various EPs, soundtrack work and home DVDs. It is this kinetic approach that has allowed them to survive throughout their 12-year career.

2003 has been an eventful year for the band and brought about several changes, including the replacement of founding member Dirk Lance with bass player Ben Kenney, former guitarist of the funk, hip-hop group The Roots. After taking a much-needed break following more than two years of promoting Morning View, Incubus has been writing new material for their much-anticipated follow-up album. They plan to debut new songs for audiences across the country this summer when they head out on the legendary Lollapalooza tour as one of the mainstage artists.

Incubus' major label debut landed in 1997 with Enjoy Incubus, an EP consisting of six revamped demos following their signing at Immortal/Epic Records. Later that year, with the release of S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Incubus hit the road in support of their first full-length album; something the band would continue to do virtually non-stop for the next six years. Their third album, Make Yourself, was released in October 1999 and became a catalyst for propelling Incubus into the mainstream music scene by spawning numerous hit singles. "Pardon Me", "Stellar" and "Drive" all settled in the top three spots on Billboard's Modern Rock chart in 2000 and 2001. In the summer of 2000, Incubus graduated to the main stage at the annual OzzFest tour, which exposed them to massive audiences. Following up with another coveted slot on Moby's eclectic Area: One Tour, their consistent touring coupled with the huge success of Make Yourself, made Incubus a household name. In October 2001 the group released their highly anticipated fourth album, Morning View.

Morning View brought Incubus their most significant success to date, going platinum in just 10 weeks while Make Yourself continued to climb, selling over two million copies. The momentum steadily gained around Morning View with the help of the lead single "Wish You Were Here," making it to the #2 spot on Billboard's Modern Rock chart.

Following the hectic pace of the last few years, the band decided to take some well-deserved time off at the end of 2002. During their break, Mike and Jose needed an outlet for their creativity and formed a funk-jazz infused side project, Time-Lapse Consortium, also featuring Incubus bassist Ben Kenney, Neal Evans (Soulive), Suzie Katayama and an 11-piece orchestra. The band has only played on two special occasions; one club appearance at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles in January and a live television stint this past April on Jimmy Kimmel Live, a late night television show.

With Lollapalooza beginning, Incubus is ready to do what they love most. return to the stage to play their new material and begin a new journey with their fans.

"What if I don't want to hear the things you say? Where were you when I was needy yesterday?" -Too Little Too Late

Put a band together with influences like Faith No More, Tool, and Fishbone, let each member add unique influences ranging from Phish to Guns n Roses to Trance music. Enter Hoobastank.

Flash back to July of 1998 and enoughmoney saved up to self release the first album They Sure Don't Make Basketball Shorts Like They Used To, spreading the Hoobastank sound across Southern California, throughout the United States, and as far as the UK, Brazil, Russia, and Israel.

Even further back to the summer of 1994 when Dan and Doug and Markku started writing music together, and then to early 1995 when Chris answered the right newspaper ad to complete the quartet. Forward a bit to the summer of 1995. The Roxy in Los Angeles. The first show: the lights, the adrenaline and the fans. The fans like you that have enabled Hoobastank to consistently sell out local shows, to play up and down California and Arizona, and to play venues as large as the Palace and even the Universal Amphitheatre.

And then look to what is almost yesterday. A band that has matured and grown enough to get signed to Island/Defjam Records and be picked up by the booking agency CAA, and then to tomorrow: a new album that will set new standards for and a tour that will bring the energetic Hoobastank sound even closer to you.

It has all led up to this, and this is only the beginning...

Creed Biography

source:sing365.com

It's not easy to find a success story as genuine as Creed’s in popular culture these days, with all the carefully scripted rises to glory and the falls that inevitably follow careers built on hype. If any late-'90s band can claim to have ascended strictly on its own merits, it's Creed, a Florida-bred foursome that went from zero to sixty (or, more accurately, zero to nearly 4x Platinum) by virtue of a combination of finger-on-the-pulse songs and powerful live performances, rather than a raft of hype.

"With My Own Prison, I knew we had the talent to get a record deal and I knew we had songs good enough to get played on the radio, but I never had any expectations of reaching this many people," says Creed's dynamic frontman, Scott Stapp. "But when I think back, I can remember that Mark Tremonti definitely did. The very first time we went into a meeting at Wind-up, he said he'd be totally disappointed if the album didn't go triple platinum." Tremonti didn't have to suffer any pangs of regret. Creed was the first band in history to have four Number One Rock Radio singles from a debut album -- a feat even more impressive in these days of love-'em-and-leave-'em, one-hit wonders.

On the strength of their singles, including the crushing title track and the more pensive "What's This Life For," Creed topped countless year-end charts and was recognized as the Rock Artist of the Year at Billboard’s 1998 Music Awards. Their debut album was also the #1-selling Hard Music album for 1998 on SoundScan’s Hard Music chart. Now, with the release of their second album, Human Clay, Creed is poised to up the ante yet again. "We're the type of band that functions really well under pressure, and there was definitely a pressure to try to top ourselves this time," says Stapp. "Not so much what we sell, because we don't really care about that. We wanted to make a really great record.

The band’s goal has always been to make records that are solid from start to finish; records that take you through an entire range of emotions." Those sentiments come across loud and clear during stretches of Human Clay. On "What If," Stapp's baritone turns fierce when addressing those he feels have judged him unfairly over the years -- a pitch that's matched by the searing guitar lines that Tremonti turns out. The intensity comes through in more subtle ways as well, as in the plaintive tone of the album’s first single, "Higher," which finds Stapp seeking refuge from the rigors of the outside world, as his bandmates erect a majestic wall of riffs to ring his discourse. Throughout Human Clay, the entire band sounds to be on a quest to explore different sonic territories, ranging from the Led Zeppelin-styled eastern modalities of the album’s first track "Are You Ready?" to the lush balladry of "Wash Away Those Years." While Stapp grants that the band's increased resources had some impact on the structure

of Human Clay - the first album was recorded for a mere $6,000 -- it's clear that Creed's evolution is far more than just a matter of dollars and cents.

For Human Clay, Creed once again turned to longtime friend and producer John Kurzweg to ensure that they captured the anthemic guitars, dramatic vocals and bold lyrics that made Creed's brawny-yet-intimate sound a radio staple for two solid years. Together with Kurzweg, the band recorded the new album in a studio they constructed in a house just outside of Tallahassee. On Human Clay, Stapp contemplates how responsibilities, choices and actions impact people. The album’s songs explore fears of growing up and letting go of youth ("Never Die") conscience ("Faceless Man") and betrayal ("Beautiful") among other topics. Creed challenges their listeners to think without preaching or pretending to have all the answers. Balancing Human Clay’s hard rock sensibilities is "With Arms Wide Open," a deeply personal song that Stapp wrote when he learned he was going to become a father. "I think my songwriting is very direct and understandable," says Stapp. "People can relate to that, so that's something I didn't want to

move away from.

At the same time, we're a little bit older and more mature now and we’ve been through a lot in the past two years, so we were looking to put things across in a way that reflected that." In many ways, Creed has been evolving gradually since the band played its first dates together four years ago. After high school, teenage acquaintances Stapp and fellow songwriter Tremonti took different routes, but both ended up in Tallahassee, where they recruited bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips to form Creed. Within a few months, they had meshed their wide-ranging influences to create the band’s rich musical texture. Creed’s reputation for dynamic, passionate live performances has led to consistently sold-out shows. During the past two years the band has played to more than two million fans worldwide, not including the huge crowd who witnessed their awesome performance at Woodstock ’99.

Creed gave fans something special to remember the festival by when they invited Robby Krieger, guitarist for The Doors, to join them during their performance on the main stage. When Stapp introduced Krieger, the crowd of approximately 200,000 erupted in cheers and shouted along to Doors favorites "Roadhouse Blues" and "Riders On The Storm." Krieger also stayed on to play slide guitar on Creed's "What's This Life For." "We were out on tour for a long time, and wherever we went, there were people telling me how much certain songs meant to them and how they felt so close to them," says Stapp. "That means more to me than any other kind of attention. It’s important to feel as if you're doing something worthwhile, and in this band, I feel like I am." It will only take a few listens to Human Clay to see that they are. DISCOGRAPHY Albums My Own Prison -- August 1997 Human Clay -- September 1999 Singles "My Own Prison" - August 1997 "Torn" - January 1998 "What’s This Life For" - May 1998 "One" - December 1998 "Hi

Foo Fighters Biography

While he was drumming with Nirvana, Dave Grohl was recording original songs at home that never received public release. Those tapes would become the foundation of the Foo Fighters, the band he formed in 1995, after the death of Kurt Cobain. Like Nirvana, the Foo Fighters melded loud, heavy guitars with pretty melodies and mixed punk sensibilities with a sharp sense of pop songwriting.

Dave Grohl began playing guitar and writing songs in his early teens, as well as performing with a variety of hardcore punk bands. In the late '80s, when he was still in his teens, he joined the Washington, D.C.-area hardcore band Scream as their drummer. During the final days of Scream, Grohl began recording his own material in the basement studio of his friend, Barrett Jones. Some of Grohl's songs appeared on Scream's final album, Fumble. After Scream's 1990 summer tour, Grohl joined Nirvana and moved to Seattle.

After Nirvana recorded Nevermind, Grohl went back to the D.C.-area and recorded a handful of tracks that would appear on Pocketwatch, a cassette released by Simple Machines. For most of 1992, he was busy with Nirvana, but when the band stayed off of the road, he recorded solo material with Jones, who had moved to Seattle. The pair kept recording throughout early 1993, when Grohl returned to Nirvana to record In Utero.

Grohl had toyed with the idea of releasing another independent cassette in the summer of 1993, but the plans never reached fruition. Following Kurt Cobain's suicide in 1994, the drummer kept quiet for several months. In the fall of 1994, booking time in a professional studio, Grohl and Jones recorded the album that became the Foo Fighters' debut album in a week. Boiling down his backlog of songs to about 15 tracks, Grohl played all of the instruments on the album. He made 100 copies of the tape, passing it out to friends and associates. In no time, Dave Grohl's solo project became the object of a fierce record-company bidding war.

Instead of embarking on a full-fledged solo career, Grohl decided to form a band. Through his wife he met Nate Mendel, the bassist for Sunny Day Real Estate. Shortly before the pair met, Jeremy Enigk, the leader of Sunny Day Real Estate, had converted to Christianity and quit the band, effectively ending the group's career. Not only did Mendel join Grohl's band, but so did Sunny Day's drummer, William Goldsmith; former Germs and Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear rounded out the lineup.

The band, named the Foo Fighters after a World War II secret force that allegedly researched UFOs, signed a contract with Capitol Records. The band's self-titled debut, consisting solely of Dave Grohl's solo recordings, was released on July 4, 1995. It was an instant success in America, as "This Is a Call" garnered heavy alternative and album rock airplay. By early 1996, the album was certified platinum in the U.S.

Throughout 1996, the Foo Fighters supported the album with an extensive tour, enjoying a crossover hit with "Big Me" that spring. Late in the year, the group began recording their second album with producer Gil Norton. During the sessions, William Goldsmith left the band due to creative tensions, leaving Grohl to drum on the majority of the album. Before the record's release in the spring of 1997, Goldsmith was replaced by Taylor Hawkins, who had previously drummed with Alanis Morissette. The Colour and the Shape, the Foo Fighters' second album and the first they recorded as a band, was issued in May of 1997.

Smear left the group in the wake of the album's completion, and was replaced by guitarist Franz Stahl, whose stay proved short-lived; 1999's There Is Nothing Left to Lose was recorded as a three-piece, with ex-No Use for a Name guitarist Chris Shiflett signing on soon after.

In the Summer of 2002, Foo Fighters headlined Reading festival in England and released the brilliant album One By One. They followed the release of this with their first UK arena tour, which sold out in many venues. They received massive airplay for the saingles All My Life and Times Like These lifted off the album. One by One was number one in the Uk album charts for one week. During the recording of the album, Dave Grohl decided to scrap the tracks they had allready layed down and left to drum for Queens Of The Stone Age's Songs for the deaf album. He performed several live shows with them before returning to Foo Fighters and re-recording the whole album in a few days. Dave described it as the rawest album yet, and the best in his opinion.

Guitar Chords " Breaking The Habit " by Linkin Park

Intro: Em, C, G, D (Play 2 times)

[Chorus]
C
I don't want to be the one
D
The battles always choose
C
Cuz inside I realize
D
That I'm the one confused

Em C
I don't know what's worth fighting for
D
Or why I have to scream
Em C
I don't know why I instigate
D
And say what I don't mean
Em C
I don't know how I got this way
D
I know it's not alright
C D
So I'm breaking the habit
C D Em
I'm breaking the habit tonight

(Play Em Thgroughout Verse)
Cultured my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I heard much more
Than anytime before
I have no options left again

[Chorus]
C
I dont want to be the one
D
The battles always choose
C
Cuz inside I realize
D
That I'm the one confused

Em C
I don't know what's worth fighting for
D
Or why I have to scream
Em C
I don't know why I instigate
D
And say what I don't mean
Em C
I don't know how I got this way
D
I'll never be alright
C D
So, I'm breaking the habit
C D Em
I'm breaking the habit tonight
(Bridge)
Em D
I'll paint it on the walls
C D
Cuz I'm the one that falls
Em D
I'll never fight again
C D
And this is how it ends

[Chorus]
Em C
I don't know what's worth fighting for
D
Or why I have to scream
Em C
But now I have some clarity
D
to show you what I mean
Em C
I don't know how I got this way
D
I'll never be alright
C D
So, I'm breaking the habit
C D
I'm breaking the habit
C D E
I'm breaking the habit tonight

Linkin Park Biography

They're at it again! Chester, Mike and the rest of Linkin Park released another phenomenal album titled Meteora. Sophomore albums are famously tricky affairs. Musicians have their entire lives to pen their debut album, the theory goes, and a relatively short time to follow it up. But what if the debut in question is the biggest selling album in recent memory? And what if the music industry has Hollywood-like expectations for another instant blockbuster? That was the scenario Linkin Park faced when they entered the studio to record Meteora, the follow-up to their multi-platinum debut Hybrid Theory.

To those outside the band, the pressure to follow up that success might have seemed insurmountable. But within Linkin Park, vocalists Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda, guitarist Brad Delson, turntablist Joseph Hahn, drummer Rob Bourdon, and bassist Phoenix weren't sweating it in ways you might expect. Instead of dwelling on outside expectations, they set to work, meticulously crafting each moment of each song to their own exacting standards. The bigger picture developed accordingly.

"We don't ever want to have the mindset where we need to sell 10 million albums each time out. That's ridiculous," says Bennington. "It's a blessing to sell that many albums; it doesn't happen very often in this business--even once in your career is an achievement. Our obligation is to our fans. We're not going to get too comfortable and say it's a given that people will run out and buy our albums." "And if you know us, you know the biggest pressure came from within the band," says Shinoda.

"We just wanted to make another great album that we're proud of," says Bourdon. "We focused on that, and worked hard to create songs we love. We're our own harshest critics." If you doubt that, consider this: Shinoda and Bennington wrote 40 unique choruses for Meteora's poignant first single, "Somewhere I Belong," before arriving at the best possible version.

The entire band, in fact, sounds more fully realized on Meteora. It's a rare achievement: A full integration of six members that still retains the unique qualities of each individual. The end result is the thumbprint style known as Linkin Park. "We don't really analyze the chemistry," says Bourdon. "We're just lucky and grateful that we found each other and that we work so well together."

"The collaborations are more seamless now," agrees Bennington. "Mike, for instance, knows more about me as a person, and I know more about him, so it's easier to write lyrics together. It's not possible to have secrecy in our relationship. You have to open up, because you want the other person to be on the same page. We're all that way with each other."

Pearl Jam Biography

Source: Pearl Jam-photosing365.com
Pearl Jam, Formed Seattle, 1990.

The genesis of Pearl Jam was rooted in chance and tragedy. Stone Gossard
(guitar) and Jeff Ament (bass) had both been members of seminal grungers Green River, and later MOTHER LOVE BONE with ex-Malfunkshun member, Andrew Wood, on vocals. When Wood died of an overdose, his longtime friend Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden) put together a tribute project called TEMPLE OF THE DOG (1991) -- Gossard, Ament and new recruit Mike McCready(guitar) were roped in, as was Eddie Vedder (vocals), who had provided some vocals for a demo tape put together by the others.

Once TEMPLE OF THE DOG was in the can Dave Krusen (drums) joined the other four. Flirting with different names on the way (Mookie Blaylock and Reenk Roink), they eventually settled on Pearl Jam, after an allegedly hallucinogenic recipe belonging to Vedder’’s grandmother. By spring 1991, Pearl Jam had begun to play live shows in the Seattle area supporting the likes of Alice In Chains. As the word spread about the Seattle scene, the band signed to Epic and their debut TEN (1992) was rushed out. Although it was recorded speedily, it distilled the pain and attitude of the disaffected, but injected it with an electric, classic rock feel. Gossard and McCready’’s playing owed as much to Jimi Hendrix as to any punk band. Vedder’’s lyrics and vocals carried a rare, raw emotion, and the soaringly poetic ““Evenflow””, ““Alive”” and ““Jeremy”” took elements of his own traumatic childhood and transformed them into universal experience.

Just as TEN entered the US charts, Krusen left to deal with personal problems and was replaced by Dave Abbruzzese. Fresh recording sessions produced ““State Of Love And Trust”” and ““Breathe””, for the soundtrack of Singles, a teen-romance comedy based on the Seattle music scene, starring Matt Dillon. Three of the band members even managed to make cameo appearances as part of Dillon’’s grunge combo, Citizen Dick. Despite this media exposure, the press were less than kind to Pearl Jam, reviews equating their driven sound with the rock dinosaurs of the 70s, while Kurt Cobain fuelled the controversy by calling them a corporate band (conveniently forgetting their lengthy apprenticeships for some of Seattle’’s finest). The fans on the other hand could not have cared less; TEN outstripped NEVERMIND in the US metal charts and outsold it worldwide in 1992.

A new album was planned for late 1992, but touring schedules slowed things to a crawl. Gossard kept himself fresh by working on SHAME (1993), the sole product of his Brad side-project; it was a mellow, danceable mix of psychedelia and funk rhythms. The summer of 1993 saw Pearl Jam providing support for NEIL YOUNG and tearing into soulful, breathtaking versions of old favourites along with fresh punk-inspired material. They joined Young for a powerful version of ““Rockin’’ in the Free World””, a song they reprised later in the year at the MTV Awards.

A new and important alliance had been forged. When VS. (1993) finally saw the light of day, the fan response was awesome, and it entered at #1 in the Billboard charts. The guitars and rhythms raged more freely, and Vedder displayed his vocal and lyrical diversity, with songs of raw, blood-curdling anger (““Go””, ““Animal””, ““Blood””) balanced by mellower textures (““Daughter””). Overall, it sounded more caustic, accomplished and mature than TEN.

Pearl Jam have always gone out of their way to be as accessible as possible; if fans write they will usually get a personal reply. This dedication to the public took a new turn in 1994. While continuing to tour, and make occasional appearances with Neil Young, they weighed in against the corporate might of the Ticketmaster booking agency, which they accused of raising prices beyond the spending power of their younger followers. They were joined in their protest by such artists as R.E.M., Aerosmith and, of course, Neil Young, and were to stay in dispute with the agency for the next two years. To show their faith in vinyl, VITALOGY (1994) was first released on record, and then on CD, which saw it rocket to the top of the Billboard charts. Tracks like the searing ““Spin The Black Circle”” and the belligerent threats of ““Not For You”” delivered the usual doses of mayhem. However, tracks such as the pointless ““Stupid Mop”” dragged on the album’’s momentum.

Apart from McCready’’s Mad Season side-project, 1995 saw Pearl Jam’’s partnership with Neil Young flourish, their encore jams developing into the poignant, broad sweep of the MIRROR BALL (1995) album. Recorded in a mere four days, the record was a potent blend of Pearl Jam’’s hard rock influences and Young’’s poetic meanderings, oiled with doses of teeth-grating, overdriven feedback. Unfortunately, in a fit of marketing pique, Young’’s record company refused to allow Pearl Jam’’s name to appear on the cover.Meanwhile the band, true to their word, continued to make a stand against Ticketmaster by touring less established venues. Progress was hampered by forced cancellations and security problems, but when things went well audiences were treated not only to Pearl Jam, but to Young joining in on songs from MIRROR BALL.

The following year saw the band lose Dave Abbruzzese and finally focus their collective attention on a new studio effort. NO CODE (1996) was steeped in the all-American tradition of garage punk but instead of lunging headfirst into a soundscape of heaving guitars the songs marked out a more thoughtful approach. Opening track ““Sometimes”” was a slow burner and it wasn’’t until ““Hail Hail”” that things kicked off in familiar style. What the album lacked in pace it made up for in poise and moving, troubled lyrics.

Overall, though, it received a less-than-ecstatic reception and the band turned back to what they knew best for YIELD (1998) and the live opus LIVE ON TWO LEGS (1998), straight-ahead hard rocking. While LIVE ON TWO LEGS featured former Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron (replacing Jack Irons) as part of the live set-up, he actually contributed to the writing of new LP BINAURAL (2000). As ever it was a tour de force showcase of the band’’s subtlety and power, addressing both social and personal issues with a deft touch. Later that same year, as if to emphasize the band’’s punk credentials, they also opted to release a series of 25 official live bootleg CDs, all of them recorded warts ‘‘n’’ all during their European tour.

The tradition of releasing such bootlegs has continued through each tour in the past few years, and Pearl Jam now hold the World Record for most songs in the Billboard Chart at once, thanks to bootlegs.

In 2000, a tragic safety failure at Roskilde claimed the lives of 9 fans and Pearl Jam took this as their responsibilty which it wasn't. The Danish authorities didn't help either, by claiming the band were to blame, although these claims were quickly dumbed down. The Roskilde incident left a huge mark on Pearl Jam's attitude and music, and the band released a statement implying they would probably never play a festival again

In 2002 the band released "Riot Act", which contained a mix of acoustic and hard-hitting rock songs with titles such as "Ghost" and "Thumbing My Way". The album title is rumoured to either be named after the "Riot Act" or the "Patriot Act", or maybe a play on both by Vedder. The album's first single "Love Boat Captain" contained the lyric "Lost 9 friends we'll never know", a tribute to those lost at Roskilde in 2000.

PJ split from Sony Records after 10+ years under contract, and so Sony cashed in by releasing a 2 Disc greatest hits titled "Rearviewmirror". After many dubbed PJs split from the money grabbing record company, they signed a contract with J Records, an affiliate of Sony, showing that it's difficult to be a big band without the support of a big company these days.
However, their music is now more independent and free from constraint, and the band have total control over their music and speed of how they do things.

Pearl Jam took part in the Vote For Change Tour in 2004, aimed at raising John Kerry's vote in the US Elections (PJ are strongly against George W Bush)and played at many undecided states such as Boston. Eddie Vedder was quoted as saying that Pearl Jam would move to Canada if Bush won, and he did, but they remain in the US.

Pearl Jam did a South American tour in late 2005, amid rumours that the new album would be released in early 2006. Sure enough, in February '06 Pearl Jam announced the new album "Pearl Jam" would hit stores on May 2nd. The first single was accepted as a "grower" and the band were quick to sell out tickets to a North American tour and book festivals across the world, breaking their no-festival stance to the joy of festival goers and organisers.

It is rumoured that Pearl Jam's self titled album is a sign of their acknowledgment that the end is near. Perhaps family commitments and such will slow the band down, maybe stop it all together, but I personally feel that Pearl Jam crave their career as passionate music makers too much to stay away from the music, and we can expect their already lengthy careers to become more fruitful and evolved over the next few years!

Angels And Airwaves Biography

Source: sing365.com
Hello everybody, this is a first for me, but I couldn't wait any longer. I have a new band called "Angels and Airwaves" and it is the most amazing music I have ever made by a long shot.

You all must know, I didn't want Blink to go on hiatus, but it had to....you all will learn why...soon, but I swear to god, I am two songs from finishing the best fucking album anybody has heard in 20 years. In the next couple of weeks, you will all hear about the new band as well as the movie that is being made to tell the story of the album.

But no matter what is said, or talked about, no matter what rumors are started, this is the best music made in decades....It is so much more powerful, emotional and melodic than Box Car and Blink put together, that I am currently shitting my pants, and your pants as well....until you hear more, all I can say is hold on, and prepare.

- Tom "I love my fans, and I promise I will not let you down, the music that we all grew to charish that was made, not only will continue, but it will be much, much better..."

Box Car Racer Biography

source:sing365.com
Boxcar Racer was a side-band created by Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker of blink-182. While blink took a break in 2002, DeLonge formed Boxcar Racer to experiment with and record ideas he felt did not fit in with blink's sound.

Taking Travis Barker from blink-182 and David Kennedy (currently in the band Hazen Street) they recorded their eponymous and only album Box Car Racer in 2002. On the album Tom did all the bass work, but in live shows Anthony Celestino took over bass duties. Guesting on the album were Mark Hoppus from blink-182, Tim Armstrong from Rancid and Jordan Pundik from New Found Glory.

Tom and Travis claim the band were heavily influenced by Dischord Emo, citing influences such as Rites of Spring, Fugazi and later era post hardcore bands such as Quicksand. An apt description of the band would be, blink-182 with minor chords, heavier guitar, darker lyrics, and fewer catchy pop melodies.

Box Car Racer broke up in 2003 because Mark from blink-182 was feeling alienated. Tom did not want to make his best friend feel this way and disbanded Box Car. Their website was taken off the internet in late March, 2005 and has since been put back online, perhaps related to the demise of blink-182. Tom has stated publicly that Box Car Racer will never reunite.

The band's name comes from the B-29 Bomber which dropped the second atomic bomb (to be used in warfare) on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. The plane's name was "Bockscar". Tom has said in an interview that he has seen the name misspelled as "Boxcar".

Members:
Tom DeLonge - Vocals, Guitar (blink-182), (Angels and Airwaves)
Travis Barker - Drums (blink-182), (Plus 44), (The Transplants)
David Kennedy - Guitar (Over My Dead Body)
Anthony Celestino - Bass (Over My Dead Body)
